Chess and Board Game Group for Homeschool Kids (ages 6-11) In-Person
Join us in the children's room for a collaborative play group led by Karen Kornher, specially created for homeschool families with children ages 6-11. Come play board games and chess with other homeschool families, bring your own games to share, and learn important skills through gaming. Games such as Catan Junior, Via Magica, Chronicles of Avel, Ticket to Ride Junior, and many more will be introduced.
When kids play board games, they’re secretly training as:
- Master Planners - thinking ahead, spotting patterns, and making smart moves.
- Quick Thinkers - adjusting plans when the game changes (because dragons don’t always behave).
- Problem-Solvers - finding creative paths to victory when the obvious way is blocked.
- Team Players - learning when to cooperate, when to compete, and how to win (or lose) with grace.
- Storytellers - weaving adventures in their minds as they imagine each move’s ripple in the game’s world.
This group will meet the 2nd and 4th Friday of each month.
