From NPHS: "We are pleased to welcome local cooper John Cox, of Quercus Cooperage in High Falls. John served a long woodworking apprenticeship and developed the skills for high end custom work.  He learned the traditional techniques of barrel making, and in 2013, he founded Quercus Cooperage, to pursue the art of traditional coopering and manufacturing of barrels, washbacks and items for Japanese-style fermentation.

John Cox served a woodworking apprenticeship in South Philadelphia in the late 80’s and for 28 years did custom fabrication and  high end interiors for the NY architectural industry. Ten years ago, while America was enduring a barrel crisis, Cox researched and converted his wood shop into a full service cooperage in High Falls, NY, making barrels and custom tanks for the spirits and culinary industry. QUERCUS Cooperage is one of 32 cooperages in America and one of only 3 that still uses traditional non automated processes."
